Invitations should be in the mail no less than two weeks before the party, but no sooner than eight weeks. Generally speaking, a good time frame is between three to five weeks before the party or when you know all the party's details.

When writing birthday invitations always open with the guest of honor's name (ex. It's Joe's Birthday!) Then include the date and time below so people know when and where your party is.
